De Montfort University in Leicester has won a contract to deliver bespoke human resources management training to HR staff at international express and logistics company, DHL UK.

The training programme includes master classes followed by a postgraduate diploma in Management of Human Resources, which will lead to graduate membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and forms part of DHL’s HR Academy, Advanced Level Programme.

De Montfort University staff will deliver four master classes to HR managers at DHL sites, in Daventry, Bedford and Milton Keynes. Topics include: Assessing the Impact of the HR Function, Building Effective Employee Engagement in the Workplace, Recognising and Rewarding People at Work and Cultivating Talent in the Organisation.

Following the master classes, HR staff will take part in a two day induction to the postgraduate diploma and start the course in September 2009. The diploma consists of seven modules delivered during a number of study days and concludes in March 2011.

Stephen Peak, Head of Corporate Development at DMU, said: “We are delighted to be working with DHL to help enhance its HR team’s knowledge of HR processes and equip them with the tools to make them more effective and efficient at their role.”

Fiona Light, DHL Head of Learning UK & Ireland, said: “DMU worked in partnership with us to create a development programme that shares our vision for a HR Academy and helped us bring the idea to life. The University was willing to meet our specific needs and tailor course content to DHL’s issues and real life situations.”
